Dear Member of The Art Students League Community,

Since 1875, The Art Students League of New York has been instrumental in shaping America’s legacy in the fine arts, with alumni including Georgia O’Keeffe, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Alexander Calder, Louise Nevelson, Ai Weiwei, and thousands of others. Founded by artists, for artists, we support students regardless of limitations of time or money. In a time when a fine art education is increasingly inaccessible, we are committed to providing high-quality instruction for all. Our signature atelier style, led by an incredible roster of instructors, cultivates both the technical and intellectual components essential to develop the skills of visual artists.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality education for artists regardless of age, background, or financial status. We subsidize tuition for all students to keep it at 50% of its cost, and provide numerous full-tuition scholarships each year. The League’s community outreach program, Seeds of the League, teaches artistic expression to thousands of underserved adults and children – in public schools, New York City parks, LGBTQ+ and community centers – completely free of charge and with all supplies provided. Seeds scholarships enable hundreds of the most talented and driven high school students in the city to continue their studies at The League, leading many students to successful arts careers. Furthermore, The League provides free lecture series, exhibitions, and a multitude of other arts programs, for members, students, and the general public.
